Happy New Year!

I can’t believe Mooch has been in business for over a year now and we’re ready to welcome 2014! This year was a big one for Mooch, without a doubt. In order to accommodate the orders, we’ve increased the number of boxes and cake boards; let’s just say we’re ready for any amount of goodies so bring it on, 2014! I’m hoping to cater more events like the Holiday Celebration at Pure Vibe Fitness Studio in Kitsilano earlier this month. Even though it’s still just me in the kitchen baking and decorating, it’s a thrill and a challenge to execute an order and share my passion with lots of people. I’d say that’s the magical moment for me: watching people enjoy my creations.

During the summer while I was away for most weeks at the race track, my trusty Moocher’s helped me test out new recipes with Mooch’s Test Kitchen. Without Animesh, Annie, Will, Ivy and Daniel we wouldn’t know the deliciousness of Mooch’s Chocolate Coconut Macaroons (which Isabel says are “bonkers”) or the refreshing and tangy Lemon Meringue Pie which is on our menu! I’ve been lucky enough to explore my creative side with customized cakes this fall! It started with Sarah’s Jack-O-Lantern Halloween cake which led to Janice’s Halloween Spider cake, Mummy Cupcakes and Pumpkin Cupcakes. From there the custom orders came flying in with Michael’s Sofie The First Cake, Shafina’s Car cake, Georganne’s Canucks cake and finally finishing the Christmas season with Sarah’s Frosty cake!

In 2013, we got to introduce new recipes to Mooch’s growing repertoire with Michele’s Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake and Dominica’s Gluten-Free, Vegan Chocolate Cupcakes! By adding these two goodies, it gives Moocher’s more options if a layer cake isn’t quite what they’re looking for. Any of our cakes can be made gluten-free as well as lactose-free!

It’s been such an amazing year for Mooch and I can’t wait to see what the next year will bring. Thank you for all your support, see you in 2014!
